We asked Robbe some thoughtful questions
Robbe, how did you discover your passion for data?
My journey into data wasn't exactly a straight line. I started with a degree in Chemical Engineering, where I learned to approach problems analytically and think in systems. Along the way, I realized that what fascinated me most wasn't necessarily the industrial side of things, but understanding how data could be used to solve complex challenges. That interest really grew during my Master's in Business Analytics & AI. Through projects and business case competitions, I found myself drawn to problems where data could turn uncertainty into clarity. I enjoyed digging into a challenge, identifying the key drivers, and building solutions that could actually influence decisions. What excites me even more today is seeing how AI is accelerating that process. Many organizations already have the data they need; the real opportunity lies in turning it into insights, automating repetitive work, and helping people focus on higher-value decisions.
Why specifically did you choose Plainsight?
I chose Plainsight because it offers the kind of exposure that's difficult to find elsewhere. I wanted to work in an environment where I could develop a helicopter view of how organizations create value with data and AI, while still being close to the actual implementation. Plainsight sits right at that intersection. On top of that, the team is young, ambitious, and gives people a lot of ownership from day one. That level of responsibility can be challenging, but it also creates tremendous opportunities to learn and grow.
What was your first month at Plainsight like?
It's been an exciting start so far. I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I was able to get involved and contribute. In my first week, I already had the opportunity to support a strategic workshop, making it easy to hit the ground running. The team has been incredibly welcoming, making the transition smooth from day one.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Most people would pick a tropical island. I'd pick a seat courtside at the NBA Finals. As a basketball fan, that's about as close to a dream destination as it gets. I've followed the NBA for years, and there's something special about seeing the best players in the world compete when everything is on the line. The intensity, the atmosphere, and the level of performance are unmatched. Whether it's a buzzer-beater in Game 7 or simply experiencing the energy inside the arena, it would be an unforgettable experience.
