Meet Dennis
Dennis has been working in data and analytics for over half a decade, most of it centered on Power BI. He studied Management and IT at Ghent University and specializes in translating analytics requirements from business stakeholders into reports that actually get used. When he's not building dashboards, he's playing guitar through a Marshall amp at a volume his neighbors tolerate.
We asked Dennis some thoughtful questions
dennis, how did you discover your passion for data?
In my last year at Ghent University, I studied a master Management and IT. There I got a taste of the data world, and it never left me. I had some really inspired professors who introduced me to the world of databases, programming and data mining. They encouraged me to do something with data, which was further translated into my master’s thesis, “Predicting tennis results by using predictive modelling.” From there on, the bug never left me!
Why did you specifically choose Plainsight?
I chose Plainsight because of their vast knowledge of Microsoft technology, but also because of the startup mentality. The opportunity to further develop both hard and soft skills at Plainsight was something that had me going right from the get-go. Finally, the pleasant atmosphere during our previous collaborations ultimately convinced me.
Do you have any hidden talent?
During my leisure time I like to fire up my Marshall amp at a “neighbor” friendly volume and jam away on my favorite tunes. I like to play everything from the Police to Metallica and everything in between and beyond. 🎸
