Meet Bram
Bram is a senior data scientist with a Master's in Applied Mathematics from Ghent University. He specializes in recommendation systems and production machine learning, with experience across media, e-commerce, and logistics. Before Plainsight, he built the recommendation engines behind VRT MAX and automated processes at BNP Paribas Fortis. Off the clock, he performs in musical theater.
We asked Bram some thoughtful questions
bram, how did you discover your passion for data?
My passion for data started during my studies in mathematics. While I enjoyed the theoretical aspects of pure mathematics, I quickly realized I wanted to apply this knowledge in practical ways. I became fascinated by the potential of Data Science and AI to solve complex, real-world problems. The ability to extract insights from raw data and turn them into valuable solutions was an exciting challenge that drew me deeper into the field.
Why did you specifically choose Plainsight?
When I first learned about Plainsight, I was immediately drawn to the people and the atmosphere. It’s clear that the company is made up of passionate, driven individuals who are not only experts in their field but also genuinely care about collaboration and creating a positive work environment. The culture here is welcoming and open, which has made my transition smooth and exciting. I was looking for a place where I could not only contribute my skills but also learn and grow from the talented people around me. Plainsight has provided that in abundance, it's a place where innovation thrives, and everyone works together to push the boundaries of what’s possible with data.
What was your first month at Plainsight like?
My first month at Plainsight has been incredibly exciting and fulfilling. The team has been welcoming, and I’ve had the chance to dive right into interesting projects. The pace is fast, and the work is challenging, but that’s what makes it so rewarding. I’ve already learned so much from my colleagues and can’t wait to continue contributing to the innovative work being done here. Next chapter I’m really looking forward to this next chapter at Plainsight, where I can continue to grow as a machine learning engineer and contribute to impactful projects. I’m also excited to bring my enthusiasm for both data and arts to the team. It’s a journey that’s sure to be full of learning, challenges, and exciting new opportunities!
