Meet Jesse
Jesse enjoys turning complex data challenges into clear and practical solutions that actually help people move forward. As a recent graduate, he started his first job at Plainsight, where he enjoys learning on the go and working on projects that make a real difference.
He believes good solutions should do more than just look nice. They should save time, reduce manual work, and make everyday processes easier. Jesse feels most at home in environments with short communication lines, shared responsibility, and room to grow together.
We asked Jesse some thoughtful questions:
Jesse, how did you discover your passion for data?
From a young age, I was curious about how things work and naturally drawn to analytical thinking. In secondary school, I initially chose Latin, but quickly realized languages weren’t for me. Instead, I moved towards economics, and that’s where everything started to click. I became fascinated by models and graphs, and by how small changes can lead to broader effects. When starting university, I knew economics was the right direction, but I didn’t want to focus on pure economics alone. That’s why I chose Business and Information Systems Engineering.
The real turning point came during my first programming course. The logic began to fall into place, and I could clearly see how business logic, data structures, and code fit together. From that moment on, programming and data evolved from an interest into a real passion, where economics and technology came together into something tangible.
Why did you specifically choose Plainsight?
For a long time, I thought consultancy wouldn’t be my thing. That changed when I started talking to people at job fairs and noticed I was most interested in those working on different projects, exploring various domains, and continuously learning. What was always clear to me was that I wanted my first job to be in a smaller company. When I came across Plainsight, everything felt right almost immediately. The freedom to explore projects, take responsibility, and grow in a fast-moving environment stood out right away. What some might see as the uncertainty of a young, fast-growing company felt like an opportunity to me, one I haven’t regretted for a second.
What was your first month at Plainsight like?
My first month at Plainsight was intense, but in a very positive way. I started with the Plainsight Academy, which offered a hands-on introduction to the tools and technologies used across the company. It was a great bridge between what I learned at university and how things work in real projects. I also got to know the entire team very quickly. By the time the Academy ended with the workation, I already felt comfortable and part of the group. What stood out most was how quickly I was trusted with my own projects, which gave me confidence and made the transition into my first role feel very natural.
What did you do with your first paycheck?
I have quite a few hobbies, from youth movements and playing an instrument to practicing karate. But my first paycheck went to something very specific: a LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon (set 75192).
Building LEGO is how I like to unwind after a busy workday. I have a large cabinet full of LEGO sets, mostly Star Wars, Technic, and some LEGO Icons. It’s my way of disconnecting and recharging, one brick at a time.
